TUF Mind Training: Thinking Under Fire (4 or 8 hour workshops)
Building Emotional Intelligence by strengthening the mind-body connection
Emotional Intelligence (EI)
What is it and why is it important?
EI is described by Bar-On (2007) as an array of interrelated emotional and social competencies, skills and behaviors that determine how well we understand and express ourselves, understand others and relate with them, and cope with daily demands, challenges, and pressures. It refers to our awareness that emotions can drive our behavior and impact people (positively and negatively) and learning how to manage those emotions – both our own and others. Managing emotions is important in a variety of stressful situations such as giving and receiving feedback, meeting deadlines, challenging relationships, organizational change, failures, and dangerous or risky situations.
Stress overload can damage the body and our relationships at work and at home. A sharper awareness of emotions as they arise allow us to find a space between the stressful situation and our reaction to it.
